Dirk Frederik van Laren

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dirk at Canterbury Gardens Monday, October 28, 2019 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Hedwig “Hedy” Josephine Maria Rolf von den Baumen for 59 years. Cherished father of Kimberley Beach, Richard (Mary), Patricia Horton (John) and Paul (Allison). Proud Opa of Corey (Carley), Karlee (Kyle), Katrina (Mitch), Christopher (Kristen), Michael (Emma), Aaron (Julie), Devon, Jodie (Dan), Ariana (Devon), Alexa (Landon), and Nikolas; and great Opa of 8. He will be missed by his sister Deliana Tait (the late Harry) and brother Ernst (Hommel) and brother- in-law Ted (Theresa). Predeceased by his brother-in-law Andre and sister-in-law Josephine. He will be fondly remembered by all his nieces, nephews and many friends. He will be remembered for his humour, generosity and leadership in his community.

Mass will be held at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER IN CHAINS, 411 Reid Street, on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honour of Dirk to Parkinson Canada or to a charity of your choice.
