Peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 17, 2013 in his 90th year at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Beloved husband for 56 years to the late Orpha Smith (nee-Sage). Loving Father to Doug Smith and Heather Secord (nee- Smith) and Father in law to Joe Secord, of Toronto. Clarence was the youngest child of George & Alice Smith originally from Scotland, then settling in Cobourg. Predeceased by his siblings Bob of Peterborough, Frank of Lindsay, Elizabeth (Bessie) of Brantford, Alice of Oakville, Florence (Dolly), Eddie, Bill and Isabella all of Cobourg. Brother in law to Elsie Sage, and Carol (nee-Sage) and Ross Kent of Peterborough and Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his friends and family. Clarence proudly served his Country as a Gunner with the 1st Canadian A/T Regiment 51st Battery in WWII. After the war, he moved to Toronto where he raised his family and worked for Agriculture Canada for 35 years, retiring from the Veterinary Inspection Directorate, Toronto, Animal Health Program. Visitation will be held at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 p.m. in the Comstock Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will take place at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Bob Rumble Centre for the deaf in memory of Mr. Smith.
