Sophia Viola (Koons) Hall age 90 of Perrysburg, Ohio, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Whitehouse Country Manor. She was born in Hammonsburg, Ohio on September 9, 1922 to Charles A. and Jennie A. (Walters) Koons. Sophia married her loving husband, Lester O. Hall March 24, 1944. They spent 68 years together until Lester died December 17, 2012.
Sophia retired from the City of Perrysburg as a bookkeeper. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in the Elizabeth Circle and in Christian Seniors Interactive “CSI” group. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed being with her family and was very blessed. Sophia and Lester were well known as part of the National Square dancing Association. They traveled all over the country with the dance clubs, most recently the Diamond Cutters, Circle 8 and the Buckeye Squares.
Sophia is survived by her children, Fred (Karen) Hall, Mary (Gary) Karnes, Betty (Bob) Garrett and Thomas (Patty) Hall; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Norma (Koons) Richards and Doris Fuhrman-Brooks; brother, Orvil Koons; granddaughter, Toni Marie Curtis; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St. Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) where visitation will continue at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 27 followed by funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be private.
