Patricia Marie MacDonald, age 91, of Perris, California passed away at home on Friday, March 24, 2023. She was born Patricia Marie Sullivan, on March 17, 1932, in San Francisco, California to her parents John and Mary Sullivan.
As an adult Patricia moved to San Pedro, California which she loved as the hilly streets and nearness to the ocean reminded her of her hometown. This is where she raised her 8 children: Robert (Kathy) Brown, Laurie (Fred) Moore, William (Faith) MacDonald, Patrick (Margo) MacDonald, Rosemary (Nick) Keseloff, Maureen (Craig) Nena, Raymond (Sherri) MacDonald and Betty Wollard. Patricia is survived by her children, 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Patricia is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Precious MacDonald and her husband, William Ora MacDonald.
There was never a shortage of fascinating stories from her childhood that she loved to tell her kids, and their kids, and their kids. Patricia was such a great storyteller that you felt like you were right there with her in the story. Some favorites of the family are: Patricia riding on the cable cars up and down the hilly streets of San Fran, playing about town with her besties Barbara and Edwina, sibling rivalries, growing up during WW2 and explaining things like air raid sirens, blackouts at night and rationing certain goods and foods, and to her Catholic school days at School of the Epiphany and Immaculate Conception Academy. Patricia also talked often of her babysitter turned best friend Teresa, gambling in Las Vegas and Laughlin which she really enjoyed, family history and stories of her children as they grew up.
If you knew Patricia you knew she was never without her endless pots of black coffee, her non filtered cigarettes, and her books. Her laugh was contagious. She enjoyed Rick Ashley (Astley), Bing Crosby and John Wayne. She was able to do some really cool things later in life like going to see the Pope, taking a trip to Ireland and traveling to visit family in different states. She saw and did so many other things in her 91 years of life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
