Taken too soon. It is with the heaviest of heart we announce the passing of our beloved James William Cuevas. When returning home from Lake Havasu on June 11, 2023, James, riding as a passenger, lost his life in a tragic car accident. James was 21 years old.
Born on December 31, 2001 to parents, Steve and Veronica Cuevas, of Riverside, California. James was the second born of four boys, and some might agree the more spirited of the Cuevas crew. He was full of curiosity and a love for life, adventure, joy, family and service. He had a smile that could light up any room, a voice you wanted to listen to and arms that when wrapped around you offered a warm reminder that life was good.
James will be lovingly remembered by his parents; his wife Natalie; sweet baby girl Rosalie; brothers - Gabriel, Isaac and Danny; grandparents Andrea LaValley, Jorge Cuevas, Maria and Antonio Heredia; and more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends any one person could ever ask for.
Family was his everything. A gift that kept on giving, James was always surrounded in love. Weekends were spent in celebration and there was never a moment he did not have someone to lean on.
As God would have it, James was blessed in his life to have experienced becoming a father and a husband. On January 22, 2022 James and Natalie were blessed with a beautiful baby girl Rosalie and married on January 5, 2023. A union placed in Jesus’ hand to provide strength, redemption and a love that knows no end.
Understanding the magnitude of his responsibility, James enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. It was one of his most proud accomplishments and he served his country with honor.
Recently, he and his family moved to Laguna, California, where James enjoyed some of his down time at the ocean teaching his little brother Danny to surf even though he himself had very little experience. Not surprising, as this is just who James was. A kind, soft hearted, young man who loved exploring all of life's wonders and sharing it with those closest to him. Without question he wanted to make a difference and that he did.
May your playful soul live on.
