Stephen was born on September 2, 1946 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Richard & Mary Corinne Roberts Barclay. He married Carolyn Simmons in Peoria on December 5, 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years; his mother Mary Corinne Barclay; six daughters, Becky Robinson of Peoria, Shelly Criss of Dunlap; Jill Barclay of Peoria, Robynne Barclay of Peoria, Dominique Barclay of Peoria, and Meth (Nath) Hul of Joliet; one brother, Richard (Rojie) of Seattle, WA; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; many nieces, and nephews; and his loyal dog Bella.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a foster son, William Long.
Stephen worked at Peoria Journal Star for over 30 years.
Stephen was a Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. In his spare time he loved to fish and was a member of the Hanna City Sportsman Club. Stephen was a loving and devoted family man. He was a gentle, caring, loving, hardworking man. Stephen will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral home in Peoria. Visitation will be Wednesday evening March 27, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
