He was born January 28, 1934 in Peoria to Samuel Willis and Irene Venzula (Sands) Ames. He married Dorothy Day April 4, 1953 in Peoria Heights, and she preceded him in death December 11, 1985 in Kankakee, IL.
In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Elizabeth Sue Ames, and Lora Mae Ames; one son, Anthony G. Ames; sister, Audrey Scott; and brother, Walter Lee Ames.
He is survived by his children, Wesley (Myong) Ames, Teresa (Joseph) Parisi, David Ames, Ken (Sherri) Ames, Robin (David) Coglianese, Joseph Ames, Sara Ames, Ruth Larimore, Sam (April) Ames, and Jason Ames; sister, Cheryl Silva. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many nephews and nieces, as well as his friend, Linda Morris.
Bob was employed by Armour’s as a Boiler Fireman, Roper Stove Manufacturer as a Millwright, and retired from Foster and Gallagher as a truck driver in 1993. He was a Korean War Army Veteran serving from 1951-1958. In the 1960s he was active in the Boy Scouts where he served as a Scott Master and Leader.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel at 2PM with Pastor Jack Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
