He was born on May 18, 1944 in Peoria, to George and Doris (Jones) Savage Jr. He married Sharon Carmody on December 17, 1968 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are their two children, Kelli (Jeffrey) Ball of Guthrie, OK and Chris (Karen) Savage of Lee's Summit, MO; four grandchildren, Mellissa (Neil Dennis) Ball, Cody Ball, Kyle (Fran Zwicker) Ball, and Keeley Savage; two great-grandchildren, Emilee and Bryson; and one sister Georgia Maloney of Ponders, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary Savage.
Mike served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. After leaving the service he worked as a Butcher with John Bee Food Mart in Peoria for over 40 years before retiring in 2006. Mike was a member of the East Peoria American Legion Post 983, where he could be found tending Bar. He also enjoyed walking at Northwoods Mall and spending time with his family and friends.
A funeral service will be at 11am on Friday, March 1, 2024 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Cremation will be accorded following the service at a burial of the urn will be at a later date in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
