Born February 26, 1934 in Peoria to Nathan A. and Ethyl E. (Wasion) Patten; she married Everett Byard on January 5, 1955 in Peoria. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding in death were her daughter, Margaret Michels; 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol Parrish of Peoria, Betty Dobbs of Pekin, and Kimberly (Bill) Buffington of Creve Coeur; grandchildren, Tina Conover, James Chaney, Steven Parrish, Bill Buffington, and Brian Buffington; great grandchildren Jacob, Leah and Thomas Chaney, and William, Tiffany and Luna; great-great grandson, Bradley; and brother Dale (Carol) Patten of Oklahoma.
Marilyn was a customer service associate at Murray’s in Peoria for many years. She also served guests at Shakey’s and Maid-Rite, both in Peoria.
She loved to write poetry and draw pictures. She was a big fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed listening to his music.
Faith was an important part of her life as she was a longtime member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria, through which she volunteered to carry the love of the church to members confined to nursing facilities. She later attended Christian Assembly in Peoria.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with burial to follow at Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
