Margaret Teresa “Maggie” Bray, 86, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 at home with family by her side. She was born on February 22, 1936 in Peoria, a daughter of Jesus “Jesse” and Mary Juana Marmolezo Perez.
Maggie is survived by her six children, Yvonne and William Cotelleso of Peoria, Diane Bray of Pekin, Francis “Tony” Bray, Denise Bray, Mabel Bray, all of Peoria, and Bernice “Bernie” Bray of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sister, Susan Barber of Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Suzanne and Jessica; sister, Martha Padilla; and three brothers, Henry Martinez, Lupe Martinez, and Leonard Perez.
Maggie last worked in housekeeping for the Pere Marquette Hotel in Peoria for many years. Maggie loved her family and friends. It brought her much joy to just spend time celebrating her grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and a beautiful smile that lit up the room. Her outgoing personality brought joy and her kindness, brought comfort to others. Maggie was a mother, a grandmother, and a best friend.
She was a member of The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria. She looked forward to attending Sunday mass.
Maggie’s visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm. A private committal service will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
