Joellen Ladley Evans lost her battle with breast cancer and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8th in Spring, Texas surrounded by her family. Joellen was born in Peoria, Illinois on March 30, 1937 as the second daughter of Joseph and Grace Ladley.
Joellen was a graduate of Peoria Woodruff High School class of 1955. She was a member of the National Honor Society and played French horn in the band. She graduated from Bradley University in 1959 with a Bachelors of Science degree. She was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority and continued to support this organization throughout her life.
Joellen spent most of her professional career at State Farm in Bloomington, IL where she retired from in 1999. She also enjoyed her time as House Director for the Gamma Phi Beta sorority at Illinois State University from 1987-1989. She relocated to Spring, Texas in 2014 to be close to family.
Joellen was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother and Wife. Most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her sons and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and every opportunity to watch a game, concert or any activity that involved her children or grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Jean Ladley Powers, and husband of 30 years, Roger Q Evans, by her sons, Scott Milliren and wife Jane, Erik Milliren, and Gary Milliren and his wife Adrienne, her grandchildren Tyler Milliren, Sarah Milliren, Rachael Milliren, Conner Milliren, Harrison Milliren, and Grant Milliren.
Joellen will be laid to rest in a private, family burial at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to charitable organizations supporting the fight against cancer, or the organization of choice.
