Jeanette R. "Jeanie Wolford

Peoria - Jeanette R. "Aunt Jeannie" Wolford, 95, of Peoria, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 at UnityPoint Health - Proctor in Peoria. She was born on August 4, 1925, a daughter of Thomas and Frances (Stonopoli) Caruso. Jeanette married Willis H. Wolford on May 6, 1944 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2011 in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers. Jeanette is survived by several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Prior to Wills’ passing, Jeannette and Will spent many of their years together traveling throughout the United States, whether it was on their motorcycle, truck with a camper, or convertible.

They also shared their love with their dog named Pepper ~no matter which dog they had-his name was always Pepper. Pepper was like their child. After the passing of Pepper, and Will, Jeanette decided to get yet another dog, and named it Benji. Benji was her best buddy over the last several years. Benji survives, and will join the Pets for Seniors Program.

Jeanette was a member of the Italian-American Society of Peoria and the Knights of Columbus Spalding Council 427 in Peoria. Jeannette also spent many hours of her free time playing Bingo at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Jeanette will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, alongside Will. Memorials may be made to the South Side Mission in Peoria.
