She was born on September 26, 1930 in Weller Township, Henry County, IL the daughter of Julian and Helen (Johnson) Anderson. Joan graduated from Galva High School, became a Registered Nurse through Methodist College of Nursing, and later received a BA from Bradley University. She married Robert L. Pardieck in Bishop Hill, IL, on December 16, 1950.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Tom) Trent of Dunlap and David (Sherrie) Pardieck of Peoria; four grandchildren: Carrie (Brian) Newman, Julie (Zac) Chatterton, Aaron Pardieck, Christy Pardieck, four great-grandchildren, and her brother John (Natalie) Anderson of Bishop Hill.
Her husband and her great granddaughter, Olivia, preceded her passing.
Although nursing was her profession, Joan will be remembered for her decades of service as a braille transcriber for the blind, her volunteer work for the Church Mouse Thrift Shop in Peoria, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association, and the Dunlap Public Library. She also taught and directed Sunday school for over 30 years.
Joan was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She truly never met a stranger, fully embraced life, and lived each day with an abundance of joy and gratitude.
Joan’s family wishes to thank and acknowledge the staff and residents of Liberty Village Estates in Peoria for the kindness and friendship she enjoyed over the past three years.
Per her wishes, at a later date the family will gather for a private celebration of Joan’s life. Cremation rites have been accorded. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
