Floyd Snodgrass

Born April 19, 1941 in Fairbury, IL to Theodore and Maurine (Bryant) Snodgrass; he married Dorothy Ernst on September 10, 1960 in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife and best friend, Dorothy; children, Christine (Brent) Hoover of O’Fallon, MO and Steve (Paula) Snodgrass of Lincoln, IL; sister, Loretta (Pat) Fitzgerald of Vinita, OK; granddaughters, Leigha, Tiffany, Alyssa, Tanna and Megan; 4 great granddaughters and 4 great grandsons.

His parents and brother, Kenneth, are predeceased.

Floyd was an Air Force veteran having served with the 97th Bombardment Wing of the Strategic Air Command.

He was an Engineer on the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad, retiring in 2002 after 35 years. After retirement from the railroad he went to work at Newman Golf Course in Peoria where he provided maintenance services until 2015.

He was an avid golfer and St. Louis Cardinals fan. In the 1960’s and 70’s he played in the fast pitch softball league.

He was a member of Peoria Elks Lodge #20.

Floyd will be remembered as a man who loved his family and lived with personal integrity and a giving spirit. His wish is to have those who remain and remember him to pass it on.

A private family Celebration of Life is planned.

Memorials are suggested to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois.
