Peoria- Edward “Ed” Driscoll, 79 of Peoria passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his home. He was born October 25, 1935 to Daniel and Marie Skomal Driscoll. He married Patricia A. Atkinson-Hunter on October 25, 1986 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Peoria, Illinois. Pat survives along with their children; George Hunter of Pekin, Monica (John) Yard of Farmington, Douglas (Brenda) Hunter of Germantown Hills, Alicia (David) Killam of Eureka, Candy Hunter-Heisel of Glasford, Angela (Scott) Hart of Morton, and Timothy Hunter of Peoria; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Catherine (Jim) Burley; sisters-in-law, Wanda Driscoll, Juanita Driscoll, Wanda Driscoll-Quine, Shirley Quick, Cathy Atkinson, Marilyn (Bud) Sullivan, and Sandi Atkinson; one brother-in-law, John McHugh and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; 1 son - Darrin Hunter; 5 brothers - Danny, James, Raymond, Leo, Bernie; 2 sisters, Betty Cooper and Agnes Falatko; brothers-in-law, Albert Cooper, Don Falatko, Bob Quick, Louis Atkinson, Richard Atkinson, and Paul Atkinson; sisters-in-law Inez Driscoll, Joanne Driscoll, Hazel Atkinson, and Kathleen McHugh. What brought Ed the greatest joy in life was being a husband, father, grandpa, and pop-pop. He was a former member of Lathers Local 36 and Carpenters Local 183. He retired from OSF Medical Center in 2000 He was a lifelong member of St. Boniface and St. Ann’s Catholic churches in Peoria. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears and Bradley Basketball. He enjoyed woodworking and home improvement projects. The funeral Mass for Ed will be held on at 10:00 am Friday, May 29, 2015 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria. Celebrating the Mass will be Father Geoffrey Horton. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, May 28th at St. Ann Catholic Church with a Christian prayer service at 4:30 pm. Additional visitation will be on Friday morning prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 9:45 am. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice, the American Heart Association or to St. Ann Church.
