East Peoria – Lynne Oliver, 72, of East Peoria, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on December 17, 1947 in Akron, OH, a daughter of Jack and Irene (Kinker) Ryan. She married the love of her life, Clifford Oliver on December 18, 1966 in Peoria.
Lynne is survived by her loving husband, eight children: Vanessa (and Jeff Burhorn), Christian (and Mary Oliver), Shannon (and Chuck Klausing), Erin, Jonathan, Daniel (and Liz Oliver), Will (and Lindsey Oliver), Kathleen, many grandchildren, and one sister, Jude Ryan of Ohio. Lynne was preceded in death by her parents.
After raising her children, Lynne went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s from Western Illinois University. She continued her education and received her Master’s of social work from Illinois State University. She was currently employed as a social worker for Deer Oaks. She had previously worked for the Salvation Army, Children’s Home, ICC, Bradley University, and Apostolic Christian Skylines. She spent a lot of time in China where she and Cliff taught English. She had a great love for the Chinese people and felt at home there.
Lynne loved being a grandma and was always eager to show off her grandchildren to whomever she met. She was an avid reader, enjoyed British mysteries, and loved to travel.
Lynne’s visitation will be July 8 at West Park in East Peoria from 4-5pm. All are welcome to stay until 7pm to visit with her family. The family will host a celebration of life ceremony at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the South Side Mission in Peoria and the Peoria Rescue Mission.
