Peoria – Dennis “Denny” J. Doran, 73, of Peoria, IL passed away peacefully March 7, 2016 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home with his family by his side. He was born March 13, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Robert and Evelyn (Lyman) Doran. Dennis married Cheryl Vohland on October 3, 1961 in Newport, RI. Surviving is his wife Cheryl Doran of Peoria, IL, two daughters: Angela Young of Peoria, IL and Kimberly Doran of Peoria, IL, four grandchildren: Danielle (Nick) Oberlander, Markus (Kristen Barnes) Young, Brandon Young, and Kaitlyn Doran, one great granddaughter Briella Oberlander, and two brothers: Lyman “Bob” Doran of East Peoria, IL and Gerald “Jerry” (Marilyn) Doran of Peoria, IL. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann Burkey, brother-in-law Jerry Vohland, and sister-n-law Ann Doran. Dennis was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for many years in the street department for the City of Peoria retiring in 2005. Dennis’s hobbies included caring for his yard, classic cars, watching Nascar, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Dennis was a member of V.F.W. Post 2602 and Teamsters Local 627. The family of Dennis would like to extend a very special thank you to all who cared for him at the hospital and hospice home during this very difficult time. A memorial service will be held at 6pm on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm Monday at the funeral home.
