He was born January 13, 1924 in Peoria the son of Harry and Hilda Munson Quine. Clifford married Agnes Sinclair on January 26, 1946. She preceded him in death on March 27, 2001. He later married Wanda L Driscoll on June 15, 2002. She survives.
Also surviving is one son, Clifford Jr (Cindy) Quine of Peoria; one daughter, Becky (Rick) Auvil of Bartonville; two step-daughters, Darlene (Pat) Flynn of East Peoria, and Karen (Bob) Pierceall of Washington; one sister, Nancy (Thomas) Owen of West Peoria; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; his beloved cat, Cali; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Linda Bell and Debbie Manley; six sisters, and two brothers.
Clifford worked 33 years at R. Herschel Manufacturing Company as a Machinist and worked 10 years at Caterpillar retiring in June of 1985.
He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Joseph Robbins Masonic Lodge # 930, and The Scottish Rite Peoria Valley.
Clifford was a Marine Veteran serving in World War II 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific Theater. His battles included Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, and Nagasaki. Cliff was a tank driver in the Battle of Tarawa and was interviewed and included in the book, “Tanks in Hell”.
The family would like to thank the OSF Hospice Staff for the great care they gave Clifford.
Funeral services will be at 10am Monday, October 29, 2018 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 1-5 pm and an hour prior to services. His grandson, Rev Adam R Quine will officiate.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
