Chuck was born to George E. Johnson and Dorothy (Randle) Johnson on February 21, 1931 in Jacksonville Illinois. In 1960 he married Marilyn A. Marble in Peoria. They enjoyed 62 years of loving marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Randle Johnson and G. David Johnson. Chuck and Marilyn were also preceded in death by the love of their lives, son Steve, who was born in 1969 and died in 1994.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn, two nephews, George (Anne) Shotick and David (Joyce) Shotick, George and David's children and grandchildren, niece Karen Johnson and nephew Karl Johnson.
Chuck graduated from Peoria Manual High School. He attended Bradley University. In 1952-1953 he served in the United States Army, including service in South Korea. After the military service, his entire career was working as a printer at the Peoria Journal Star.
As a young man, Chuck was a talented artist, including doing portraits. He loved poetry and was an avid reader. Chuck and Marilyn's biggest interest was traveling, visiting all parts of America and documenting each trip with photo albums and journals.
Chuck and Marilyn were members of First Federated Church, Peoria. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
