Beatrice “Bea” Rumberger, 76, of Peoria, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2022, peacefully at home. Born April 30, 1945 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Beatrice Stecca. She is survived by a brother, David Stecca and his wife, Ruby of Elgin, IL; and sister, Kathy Wescher and her husband, Roy of York, PA.
Her family moved to Wheaton, IL to have their children attend the Wheaton Christian Grammar School when Bea was entering the 6th grade. She then went to Wheaton Academy, and then Wheaton College, receiving her Elementary Education degree in 1967.
She married James Rumberger in 1967, and they have three surviving children, daughter Heather Rumberger, of Galesburg; son, James Rumberger, of Peoria; and Adora (Anthony) Lockaby, of Heath, TX; one granddaughter, Bailey Strong; and one grandson, Colton Lockaby.
Beatrice and James moved to West Chicago, IL where she taught fourth grade for one and a half years, and he taught Art, and English at District #94 High School. We had for many years, a large garden, chickens, a goat, and three dogs.
Bea was a great mother- loving all stages of their lives. She made clothes for Heather and Adora when they were younger. She played with them and entered into and instructed their play. She shared Bible stories with neighborhood children wherever she lived. She was kind and giving to all if it be for need of food or help. She was a great cook and loved the Lord and reading His Word.
In 2008, the family moved to Peoria, IL to be closer to their daughter, Heather, living in Galesburg. We transferred our church membership to The First Assembly of God of Peoria. Soon after, we began hosting and then leading a Small Group in our home for a number of years until Bea became ill from strokes.
Memorial services will be held at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 3PM with her grandson, Pastor Colton Lockaby officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place later at Glen Oak Cemetery, West Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peoria First Assembly of God. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
