Annette C. Mills, 77, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Bickford Home in Peoria. She was born on November 17, 1939 in Evanston, Illinois to Charles E. and Helen B. (Moen) Palmgren. She married William T. “Bill” Mills on April 24, 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2006.
She is survived by one son, Scott L. Savre of Las Vegas, NV. and one daughter, Kimberly (Allan) Harris of Phoenix, AZ.; three step-sons, Michael T. Mills of Kalispell, MT., Mark W. (Kathy) Mills of Springfield, IL. and James R. (Joanne) Mills of Tempe, AZ.; eleven step grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn Barden of Huntley, IL.
She was a Civil Engineer with the Illinois Department of Transportation for 34 years retiring December 1998. She was the first female Civil Engineer hired by the Illinois Department of Transportation. She received the Annual Profession Excellence Award by the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
She was a member of the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. She was Chairperson of the Peoria County Republican Party, served on the Tri-County Planning Commission, and was a member of the City of Peoria Traffic Division. She served on the Advisory Council Commission for Civil Engineering College at Bradley University. She was a member of the University United Methodist Church of Peoria.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
