Olive "Ann" Lord, 94, a life-long resident of Peoria, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria. She was born on March 31, 1928 in the front bedroom of the home her father built in Peoria, a daughter of Walter Ward and Ruth M. (Van Osdol) Fry.
Ann attended Peoria High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
After graduation she went on to have a short career at Illinois Mass Mutual.
Ann married Daniel R. Lord on April 18, 1953 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria. They were married 31 years before Dan's sudden death on July 12, 1984 in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Nicholas Rudolph (2004).
Ann is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Susan (Dave) Millard of Peoria and Christine Ann (Michael) Rudolph of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one sister, Janet Vollmer of Peoria; four grandchildren, Ryan Buchanan, Daniel Millard, Michael (Trisha) Millard, and Becky (Clint) Reno; and five great-grandchildren, Thomas and Riley Millard, Wyatt, Silas, and Levi Reno.
Ann enjoyed building their home in Wardcliffe, and going to dinner, movies, and plays with her friends. She was lucky enough to live in Wardcliffe surrounded by the best neighbors who loved her and looked out for her. She was an avid Bradley Basketball fan and a member of the Chiefs Club. She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church for over 68 years.
Ann loved attending her daughters dance recitals along with all activities her girls participated in. She loved her grandchildren and spent many years babysitting and caring for them. She was an excellent cook and famous for her popcorn, brownies, and lemon cake.
When Ann was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and could no longer drive, she told her daughter that she wanted it stated in her obituary that she was an "excellent parallel parker".
The family wishes to publicly thank the administration, staff, and nurses at Apostolic Christian Skylines for their excellent care and loving attitude for Ann. We are grateful for Transitions Hospice for making mom comfortable in her final hours.
Ann's funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. Fr. David Richardson will officiate. Her visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. also on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Center, or to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.
