March 31, 1961 – October 24, 2021
William “Bill” Frank Stark, Jr., loving husband and father went home to meet his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at his home in Pace, FL.
Bill was born in Roanoke, Virginia and moved to Lynchburg, VA with his family in 1967. He attended Brookville High School where he was actively involved in playing sports – football and golf. He went on to graduate from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA in 1983 (a true Hokie fan). He began his lifetime work with credit unions (following in his dad’s footsteps) right out of school, working for GTE Federal Credit Union in Reston, VA from 1983-1988. He met his wife, Karen at GTE and they married in 1988. Bill continued his career in increasingly high-level management positions with Monsanto Employees Credit Union (1988-1995), the North Carolina Credit Union Network and Clara Barton Credit Union (1996-2000). In 2000, he moved with his family to Pensacola, FL and has worked for the last 20+ years for Harvester’s Federal Credit Union, most recently as the Sr. Vice-President of Operations.
Bill along with his wife joined First Baptist Enfield, CT (1989), then Gate City Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC (1996) and then Hillcrest Baptist Church, Pensacola, FL (2001). Bill faithfully served these churches as a deacon, AWANA leader in children’s ministry, a “Jump Start” children’s program teacher and particularly loved serving on the “Hospital Visitation” team at Hillcrest, which blessed his heart. Bill loved working with children and served in children’s ministry for over 30 years at these three churches.
Bill was a great man of faith -trusting in God for all things. He was a very quiet, gentle, kind-hearted man with a great sense of humor. An astute business man always bent toward excellent customer service and gifted in writing and speaking. He loved his Lord, his family, his church, his co-workers, VTech and Minnesota Vikings football and golf. He will be dearly missed.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Karen of 33 years; son, Tim (Isabel) Stark, daughter, Sarah (Durrell) Martin; parents, William F. Stark, Sr. and Phyllis A. Stark; sister, Tami Harmon and many loved extended family, church family and friends.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Care Hospice for their care and kindness to us and all our family, church family and friends for their outpouring of prayers and expressions of sympathy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4th at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Pensacola, FL. Visitation 1-2pm, Memorial Service 2-3pm, followed by burial at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 800 E Nine Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32514.
