Stacy Franklin Ford, age 98, passed away in Jackson MS on May 25, 2022 after being a resident of Pensacola FL for 67 years. He was born on January 3, 1924 in Fishdam, TN to Jacob Lee Ford and Elizabeth Minton Ford.
Stacy served in the Navy during World War II and earned a degree in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with the help of the GI Bill. He retired from Monsanto Corp. after working for twenty-five years.
An entrepreneur and a jack-of-all-trades, Stacy was a steady man that could fix anything that went awry, mechanically or in life. “It’s better to wear out than rust out” was his motto and accordingly he was a hard worker who was always eager to lend a helping hand. Stacy enjoyed traveling, visiting every state in the nation as well as many foreign countries. He loved geology and was an avid rockhound, always returning from summer vacations with new fossils, rocks and minerals. He was a devoted member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he raised his family and attended services for more than six and a half decades.
Above all, Stacy was a family man with deep love and loyalty for his immediate and extended family. Maintaining family ties was a priority and he enjoyed visiting his children and siblings as often as possible. The calm and steadfast support of this good man will be greatly missed by his family and always remembered.
Stacy is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Ferne, their daughter Marcia (David) Jones of London England, their son Kevin Ford of Bradenton FL, their son Bryan (DeAnna) Ford of Madison MS, and their daughter Yvonne (Douglas) Wilder of Denver CO; Grandchildren Ian (Heather) Jones, Bethan (Dustin) Hughett, Gareth (Cassandra) Jones, Evan (Bonnie) Jones, Corey Ford, Maeve Wilder, Neva Wilder, and Maren Wilder as well as 10 Great Grandchildren.
A visitation for Stacy will be held with the family on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10 AM to 11 AM at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2203 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola FL 32503, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. An Interment will be held afterwards at Bayview Memorial Park and Cemetery, 3351 Scenic Highway 90E, Pensacola, FL 32503.
