Sara was born on March 19, 1931, to Shelly and Maude Mash in Thomasville, Georgia.
In 1956, Sara met Leonard (Jake) Jacobs through mutual friends while working as a telephone operator. They were married after a three-month courtship and shared fifty-four years of marriage together until Jake passed away in 2011.
After raising her children, Sara taught preschool at the West Pensacola Baptist Church WEE Center from 1977 to 1984, and the Academy for Early Learning from 1984 to 1993. She loved spending time with family and friends, going to yard sales, and reading.
Sara is survived by her daughter, Brenda Gayle Palensky (Kent), son Leonard Samuel Jacobs, Jr., son Robert Bruce Jacobs (Kim), and daughter Sara Jane Jacobs, seven grandchildren and their spouses, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held on July 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL, with interment at the Barrancas National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Serving as pallbearers are Bruce Jacobs, Jake Jacobs, Smitty Mash, Joseph Oliver, Gabe Jacobs and Cale Jacobs.
