Ronald (Ronnie) Paul Borders was born on November 18, 1942 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to a Mr. Horace Borders (an active duty soldier serving in World War II) and Mary Brownlow Borders. An only child, Ronnie’s family moved to Kansas after the war and he grew up loving the outdoors and working with his hands. Ronnie joined the United States Army in 1958. Before being deployed to Germany during the Berlin Crisis, Ronnie married his high school sweet heart, Elder Faye Rice in September 3, 1961. Ronnie returned to the United States and was then stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. After honorably serving his country, Ronnie and Faye returned to Pensacola and he worked for Pondarosa Builders and ultimately opened his own business of cabinet making and other wood works. Later in his career, Ronnie worked for the University of West Florida in the building maintenance shop for 10-years. Ronnie was a great mentor to many in the shop sharing his years of construction knowledge with them freely. Ronnie diligently and faithfully cared for Faye at their home during her decade long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He lost Faye, his wife of 56 years, on January 10, 2017. He missed Faye very much and joined her in heaven on April 21, 2018 after a brief illness. Ronnie leaves his beloved only child and daughter Carissa Faye Borders Bergosh, son-in-law Gary Bergosh and grandsons Alexander and Benjamin. In accordance with his strict wishes, Ronnie will be interred with his beloved Faye later this summer at a graveside service with only his immediate family. In lieu of flowers donations to the Community of Christ Bluff Springs Campground is suggested.
