Patrick Anthony Mooney

Patrick Anthony Mooney (Pat) was born on June 4, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Angela and Philip Mooney. Pat died on November 11, 2023, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida after battling several medical issues for the last few decades of his life.

He lived in several different places growing up, including Hawaii, then his family settled in Enterprise, Alabama with Philip being stationed at Fort Rucker. He graduated from Troy State University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity.

He moved to Pensacola, Florida because he wanted to be near the beach. Pat started his own computer software business called Data Concepts with his partner Nick Edwards. His first office was at 115 E. Tarragona St, which is now the Pensacola Children’s Museum. His company was the first in the state to send a Medicare claim electronically. He was also an investor in Shanahan’s Restaurant and Lounge located at 120 E Main St, where it now houses multiple businesses.

Pat met the love of his life, Julie, in 1978 at the Executive Club in downtown Pensacola. They were married on October 21, 1984, and had 2 children; Heather and Patrick, JR. Pat loved to vacation in the mountains with his family and friends. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, and playing the guitar with friends. He was a kind soul that would help anyone in need and loved to laugh. Pat lost his Julie 8 months prior to his passing. They never liked to be apart for very long.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Julie, his parents, Angela and Philip, his brother, Philip JR, and numerous other loved ones. He is survived by his children, Heather and Patrick JR, his grandchildren, Charles, Lillian, Oliver, and Elizabeth, and his twin brother, James.

Pat will be laid to rest at Bayview Memorial on December 11, 2023, at 3PM. This will be a brief event to pay respects. He will be laid to rest with Julie. A celebration of life will be held next summer for everyone to attend. Pat wouldn't want us to cry in the cold and mourn his death. He would want us to party in the sun and remember him with a drink in our hand.
