A resident of Pensacola since early childhood, Miles graduated from Pensacola High School in 1954 and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, where he met his wife Linda. He worked for the Federal Government for 42 years and retired as a Budget Analyst with the Chief of Naval Education Training (CNET) at Pensacola, NAS in 2001.
He is preceded in death by his parents Miles and Bernice Newton.
He is survived by his wife Linda Newton, a sister, Joan Hill, niece, Gwen Khalil, nephew, David Wilson of Paris, France and numerous other extended family members.
As was his request there will be no funeral or memorial service. Donations in Miles' name may be made to The USM Foundation, 118 College Drive #5210, Hattiesburg, MS 39406. The Humane Society of Pensacola, or a charity of your choice.
