Mary Kate Rickles

1929-2016

Mary Kate Rickles, age 86, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016. She was born September 18, 1929 in Birmingham, AL to Samuel T. Tucker, Sr. and Mary L. Tucker.

Katie, as she was known to family and friends, was a homemaker and a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Julius H. Rickles, Jr., lived in Birmingham, AL for 31 years and moved to Pensacola in 1978. Katie was an avid gardener and excellent cook.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Herbert; her son, Tommy Rickles, Sr.; her parents; her sisters Betty Jean Tucker and Jackie Hand; and brother Samuel T. Tucker, Jr.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Mary Rickles; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Donald Martin; grandchildren: Michael Boatright, Bryan (Jennifer) Rickles, Julius (Lindsey) Rickles II and Christopher (Erin) Kibodeaux; sister Martha Tucker (Joe) Byram and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 12 Noon at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Crain officiating. Interment will follow in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens with Michael Boatright, Bryan Rickles, Julius Rickles II, Christopher Kibodeaux, Johnny Hand and Don Hand serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 AM until the service hour.
