2021, at the age of 88, Marilyn was softly and tenderly called to her heavenly home to
be reunited with her husband of 65 years, Louis J. Taylor.
Marilyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Marilyn attended Pensacola High School and later earned her Associate of Arts Degree,
graduating with honors from Pensacola State College. She was employed in Federal
Civil Service as a clerk typist in which she was well like and respected. Among other
work related achievements, she earned a “Sustained Superior Performance Award” for
career dedication far exceeding expectations.
Marilyn had many hobbies. She expressed her creative talents by writing poetry, short
stories and poems. She delightfully would play the piano and sing her songs for her
family. She would read her poetry and short stories to her grandchildren. In the 1940’s,
Marilyn shared her beautiful voice by singing with her sister Helen on local live radio
broadcasts.
Marilyn enjoyed cultivating vegetable and fruit tree gardens in her back yard sharing the
harvest with friends, family and neighbors. She filled the trees in her backyard with
hummingbird feeders. Marilyn would spend her quiet time watching the hummingbirds
while doing her cryptogram puzzles and coloring in her coloring books.
Marilyn loved freshwater fishing. Most of Marilyn’s and Jimmy’s vacations centered
around fishing trips to various fish camps.
Marilyn enjoyed the sport of bowling participating over the years in various bowling
leagues as team member and earning trophies that revealed her improvement and
success.
She became interested in ceramics as a hobby as well in which she earned first and
second place ribbons when displayed at the Pensacola Interstate Fair. Her love of
family led her to sew, knit and crochet useful items for family and friends.
Marilyn had a special love and affection for animals, especially her dogs that she
enjoyed spoiling and pampering. She would actually cook them a fresh breakfast of
eggs and bacon from time to time.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Louis j. Taylor (Jimmy); her parents, John
Arthur Bailey and Mary Lee Covington,; her sister, Helen Bailey Gonzalez,; her brother,
Raymond Douglas Bailey.
Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories, her son and daughter-in-law Michael J. and
Lisa M. Taylor; her grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Matt) Regynski and Amanda (Randy)
Boehringer; her great-grandchildren, Riley and Jocelyn Regynski and Randel and Grant
Boehringer; her sister, Diane Covington Manahan; her brother John Edward Covington.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway 90e, Pensacola, FL 32503. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 12, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Burial will be held directly after the funeral service at The Barrancas National Cemetery.
