Kathy G. Yates

Kathy Joy Griffith Yates, age 59, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 16, 2011 in Murray, Utah due to complications after heart surgery. She was born April 2, 1952 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida to parents Harold W. Griffith and Kathleen L. Griffith. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1970 where she met her life long love, Edward A. Yates. They were married on February 27, 1971 at St. Marks Methodist Church in Pensacola, Florida. Kathy is devout Christian and loved the Lord with all her heart. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember one thing: know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. Her family will always cherish the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus’ faithful love for her.

She is known as Wife, Mom, Boppy, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and faithful friend. Kathy touched the heart of everyone she met. She loved the outdoors from camping in the mountains to swimming in the gulf. She always lived life to the fullest. She was a faithful member of the Great Harvest Family Church in Sandy, Utah for the past 20 years and will be fiercely missed by all who knew her. A truly beautiful soul.

She is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Edward A. Yates; her two daughters that she loved with all her heart, Melany (John) McCann and Tiffany (Thomas) Clupp; Seven grandchildren who were light of her life, Spencer Clupp, Ryan Clupp, Emily Clupp, Ian Karlin, Ashton McCann, Kyleigh McCann and Shealeigh McCann; four sisters, Suzanne (Fred) Weathers, Jerry (David) Pitman, Marilyn (Adrian) Craig, Vicki (Tim) Grantham; two brothers, Donny (Dot) Griffith and Larry (Diane) Griffith; aunt, Janette Schiller, who was like a mother to her and a grandmother to her two daughters, Melany and Tiffany, who they call Nonny; she is also survived by her step-mother, Ann Griffith, who is known to Kathy’s children and grandchildren as Granny Ann; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold W. and Kathleen L. Griffith.

Services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 10-10:45 AM. Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following Tuesday’s service.
