Karl was born in Flatwoods, WV, July 1930, youngest sibling of Allen M. Jordan, Sr. and Gertie F. Jordan. He graduated from Sutton High School, Sutton WV with the Class of 1948 and 65 others. Many of them went through 12 years of school together and todaymany of them re in contact with each other through the internet. After graduation he was living with his oldest sister, Zola Marie in Akron, Ohio and worked for the Aluminum Seating Corporation, a branch of Alsco Aluminum storm Doors and Windows Manufacturing. He joined the regular Air Force in January 1951 and was sent to Lackland AFB, TX to obtain the initial issue of military clothing prior being assigned to the Far East with his Air Force Reserve unit to join them in their Air Warfare over North Korea. After six months, he returned to Keesler AFB, MS as a classroom instructor in Basic Training of New Officers of the Air Force in the Communications Field teaching International Morris Code, and Principles of Radio. His overseas assignments while on regular duty has been: Rabat International Airport, Rabat, Morrocco (then French Morrocco); Cape Romanzof AFS, Alaska; Wheelus AFB, Tripoli, Libya; Tachikawa AFB, Japan. His state side assignments include; Lackland AFB, TX (twice); Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS; Youngstown Municipal Airport, Youngstown, Ohio; Owingsville AFS, Owingsville, KY; Langley AFB, VA; Custer AFS, Battle Creek, MI and his last 4 years was at Eglin AFB, FL, assigned to the 20 Surveillance Squadron (ASDC) (NORAD) for 4 years until his retirement after 23 years of total active duty service. While stationed 20th Communication Squadron (TAC), Langley AFB, VA and in 1958 he was active the Cold War activities in Lebanon, Quomoy, Matsu Island and Taiwan Staits with the Tactical Air Command. While stationed at Wheelus Air Base, Tripoli, Libya, he was on Temporary Duty working the Congo Airlift after Belgium gave Congo their Independence and was a crew member on aircraft moving foreign students and political dignitaries from Leopoldville, Congo to Europe by the way of Wheelus AB, Libya. After the 90 days working with the Airlift, he was assigned to a special unit servicing communications equipment throughout Southern Asia. After Regular Air Force retirement, January 31, 1974, he obtained employment with TRT Telecommunications Corp., Fort Lauderdale, FL an international communications switching center, as Senior Computer Systems Controller and moved to North Lauderdale, FL where he carried out his reserve time at Homestead AFB, FL to complete his required 10 year reserve obligation. TRT also served many banks through the U.S. by doing their bookkeeping and returned to the Main Branch of the Bank. His employment with TRT Telecommunications Corp lasted for another 20 years. While living in North Lauderdale, FL he joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Charter Member of the former VFW Post 1139. He served two years as Post Commander and received All State Status for his second year. Post 1139 later was consolidated with VFW Post 7115 in Sunrise, FL. In 1992-1993, he was appointed District 15 Commander by Department Headquarters for 13 VFW Posts located in Broward County Area and attended as many of their activities and entertainment that he could. In 1993-1994 he again volunteered for the second year as District Commander. Distric Commanders were also members of the Department Council of Administration. From 1994-2000, he held many positions as Committee Chairman and/or Member of other Committees within the VFw, Department (State) of Florida. After they moved from North Lauderdale, FL to the Pensacola area, he transferred his membership from VFW Post 7115 to VFW Post 706. He served from 2000 through 2003 as Post Quartermaster, and a portion of two additional years in the same position. Also, served as Quartermaster for MOC PT 66 for ten years. Military Association memberships are: Life Member (LM) Veterans of Foregin Wars; (LM) Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) (The Honorary Degree of the VFW); (LM) Disabled American Veterans; (LM) The Retired Enlisted Association; (LM) VFW National Home, Eaton Rapids, MI; (LM) The Retired Enlisted Association; The Retired Military Officers Association; and the American Legion. His is survived by their three children, Linda M. Jordan, Pensacola, FL; Richard W. Jordan and wife Diane of Coral Springs, FL; Edward M. Jordan of West Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Erica L.Jordan, Plantation, FL; Jessica D. Jordan, Coral Springs, FL and Matthew K. Jordan, Maynardville, TN. Preceding him in death was his Beloved wife of 58 years, Martha Ann (Stiver) Jordan. They were married September 30, 1950 in the Chapel of the Main Street Methodist Church, Akron, Ohio, September 30, 1950 by Dr. (Rev) Herbert J. Thompson. Also, his parents, Allen M. Jordan, Sr. and Gertie F. Jordan; brothers, Allen M. Jordan, Jr. his wife Glenna; and Charles N. Nunley; Sisters; Zola Marie Livesay; and Zula Merle Unk and her husband Steve Unk. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Interment with full military honors will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.
