John O. Perdue, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born in Franklin County, Virginia on 22 December 1930, the fifth of seven children to John Otey and Maggie Pearl Lynch Perdue.
Having served as a corporal in the US Army in Korea. He was discharged in November 1953 and in early 1954 came to Pensacola, Florida where he worked for Chemstrand and Monsanto until his retirement in 1995.
For over 60 years John was a master Mason of Escambia Lodge #15 of Pensacola. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason for over 30 years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Pensacola chapter #253.
He was a member of East Brent Baptist Church, later moving his membership to Olive Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member of the Mara Natha class.
John was the loyal Bingo caller at Brookdale, a senior living facility.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, his first wife, Maurice Ward Perdue and his second wife Beulah Williamson Perdue.
A brother, Richard Perdue of Virginia, nephew Bill Perdue and stepson James Williamson of Pensacola, 5 step grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who called him GrandJohn and numerous nieces and nephews survive him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Olive Baptist Church mission fund or Escambia Masonic Lodge #15.
Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, 17 January at 2:00 pm. Rev Jon DuBois officiating.
