John was the son of Charles S. Craigie and Gertrude Zewerink Craigie.
He was born in 1930 and lived and was educated in Cleveland, Ohio until he joined the Navy. During his 40 year career in the Navy , John was assigned to many ships, squadrons, and commands. He often recalled with fondness his one year world cruise. His last duty was as Command Master Chief at the Naval Air Station Pensacola from 1981 to 1987. Upon retirement from the Navy John became a real estate broker for the next 25 years.
John was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Fraley Craigie, his parents, and his sister, Carole Craigie Kenny and her husband Eugene.
He is survived by his current spouse of 53 years, Faye Queen Craigie; his daughter, Deborah Craigie McCoy and granddaughter, Jennifer McCoy Ahrendt, and the son of his heart Sherman Hopkins. John is also survived by his beloved niece and nephew, Kathleen Ruble (Jerry) and John Kenny (Laura), who is a chaplain in the Navy and will conduct the Memorial Service in a private ceremony at the Barrancas National Cemetery where John Craigie’s cremains will rest. He will be remembered by his grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces' and great grandnephews.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations to the American Red Cross for the victims of Hurricane Ian would be appreciated.
