Jerry is survived by his wife, Tonya Calhoun, his daughter Stacie Walker (Jesse), and two beautiful granddaughters, Olivia and Jada who brought tremendous joy, love and pride to his life. Jerry is predeceased by his father Norman Calhoun, mother Agnes Roberts, brothers Leon and Lloyd Calhoun and sister, Yvonne Bates.
Jerry was born in Andalusia, Alabama in 1952 to Norman and Agnes Calhoun. He grew up in Shalimar, Florida. He married Tonya Wilcox in 1974. He joined the United States Marine Corps in November 1971 and proudly served 6 years. His most memorable service was 2 tours with the Marine Detachment aboard the USS Forrestal. There he was proud to have formed a true brotherhood with his fellow Marines. That bond is still strong today. In 1976 he completed his training to become a United States Marine Corps Drill Instructor at Parris Island, SC. there he joined the ranks of those select few chosen to mold the future and destiny of the United States Marine Corps through the training of it's recruits.
Following his Honorable Discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Jerry worked in Food Service Management, followed by Assistant Sales Manager at an Auto Dealership in Morrow, Georgia, and owned several businesses of his own throughout the years. After retiring, Jerry became interested in Antiques and he became a successful Antique dealer leading him and his wife to open their own Antique shop. With the managment skills of their daughter Stacie, they successfully served the Atlanta metro area for over 3 years, while building a loyal customer base and making many new friends.
Jerry will be buried at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. Service will be on site Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11am CST.
