James was a loving husband, father and Papa to his family. He worked hard to provide for his beautiful wife and his two children. He served his country early in his life by joining the Navy, then sold insurance for a bit before settling in as a route salesman for multiple bread and milk companies over the next many years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, sowing & harvesting his garden, and bird watching as he relaxed on the back porch.
James is survived by his daughter Melody; his grandchildren Lindsey, Marti Leigh, Amanda (Austin), and Ashley; his great-grandchildren David (Michaela), Halie (Jesse), Katelyn, Jameson, and Chase; and his three great-great-grandchildren Lucas, Adrian, and Ava; one brother Jack (Betty) Loyed and many nieces and nephews who fondly remember him as “Uncle James”.
James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, June Loyed; his beloved son James Marty Loyed; his parents Effie and Andrew Loyed; his sister Louise Owens and his brothers General Lee, William Earl, and Thomas Henry Loyed.
James was a member of Pine Forest Assembly of God Church. He gave his life to Christ over 60 years ago and has remained a faithful Christian telling others about Jesus through his music as Choir Director at the First Church and his singing with his longtime friend Bro. Toy Cook. Wherever you saw James, he always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He will be deeply missed by his family but we are confident that he was singing ‘Make Him A Soldier’ or ‘When We All Get to Heaven’ as he entered Heaven’s Gates and will rejoice forever more singing in God’s heavenly choir.
Funeral services will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Public viewing will be from 12pm–1pm, with the service starting at 1pm.
