James Joseph Kane, 83 of Pensacola died Monday, August 19, at home surrounded by his loving family. James (Jimmy) moved to Pensacola, FL at an early age. He graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School in 1950. He joined the Navy and after serving four years he returned to Pensacola and was employed with NARF until his retirement in 1987. He was an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Co-Chairperson of the Little Flower City-Wide Pro-Life Committee, a member of St. Mary's Perpetual Adoration, a 5th grade CCD teacher, past officer of the Little Flower Men's Group, a volunteer at Baptist Hospital and the Prison Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Kane, his grandson, James Joseph Kane III, and his brother, Thomas J. Kane. Survivors include his wife Ingrid Kane, his children Karen (Jerry) VanLuven, Cindy (Tom) Kidder, Jim (Margie) Kane, Mary (Pete) Barraca, Richard (Laurie) Kane, Kevin (Donna) Kane, Teresa (Mike) Nelson, Laura (Gary) Hammac, 2 step daughters, Sheila (Michael) Kellenberger and Raphaela (Keith) Harris, and two sisters Peggy (Bill) Milstead and Lucille (Dale) Holbert. He is also survived by his grandchildren Angela Kane, Daniel and Colleen Kidder, Jessica (John) Murphy, Sara (Brad) Bergan, Molly, Abigail and Caleb Kane, Ashleigh and Justin Barraca, Rachel Kane, Brandon, Ryan and Jacob Nelson, Brittany (Trace) Whitman, Courtney (Shaun) Stoodley, Cody and Maggie Hammac, Trinity and Raven Harris, Gwenyth and Elijah Kellenberger and four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Lisa Tietje and in-laws Doris (Larry) Orvis, Ilona Gracia, Mabel (Charles) Kimberl, Joan Milsted, Ellen (Len) Contarino, Fr. Gordon Milsted, David (Beverly) Milsted and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 21 from 5-7 PM with the Rosary at 6 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church on Thursday August 22 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Little Flower City-Wide Pro-Life Committee at 6495 Lillian Highway P O Box 3009 Pensacola, FL 32506.
