He joined the US Navy in 1943 and was stationed in Pensacola where he was a radioman on a Navy PBY aircraft as a submarine hunter until his release in 1945. He earned a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying in his younger days. Ace was a passionate golfer and earned his nickname after shooting a hole in one at Osceola Golf Course. He took pride in caring for his home and yard and with the help of Marie always had prize winning flowers and lawn. He enjoyed playing bridge and poker with his First Methodist Church friends and was a member there for almost 65 years. As a Shriner he volunteered to drive children and their families to Tampa for medical treatment. He was a hardworking provider for his family and retired from Independent Life as an insurance agent. Ace was also a member of the Civitan Club. He will be greatly missed by his family.
