Glenda Darden, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023 at her home. She was the widow of Donald Darden, her second husband and love of her life of 37 years, and Raymond Young, her first husband.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of Willie and Catherine Brannon. She was a secretary with the Federal Government for the majority of her working career.
Glenda enjoyed being near the water, drawing, crocheting, family gatherings, reading and yoga when she was healthier. She will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful laughter, love of her family, being a serious board game player, and her love for oysters and wine.
She is survived by a blended family of six children, Dennis Young (Cynthia), Donna Majors (Donald), Darryl Young, Elizabeth Lanich (Michael), Lori Horton (Steve) and Blaine Darden; grandchildren, Dana Lukkar (Tim), Jared Majors (Samantha), Samantha Mayne (Brett), Alexander Young, Joshua Young, Shayna Jones (Bailey) and Shelby Culver, Madyson Darden; great grandchildren, Ashtin, Sienna, Lane, McKinsey, Oliver, Olivia, and Stephen; as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents; husbands Donald Darden and Raymond Young; her brothers Keith and Byron Brannon; and her sister and best friend Katherine Rouse.
Special thanks and appreciation to nurse D.J. Frank of Covenant Care Hospice. The care and attention given to our mother meant the world to her and to us.
A celebration of Glenda’s life will be held on June 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, 1985 W Nine Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32534.
