1947-2017
David Lee Jennings was born in Anderson, SC on October 1, 1947. He grew up in Pensacola, FL and graduated from Escambia High in 1966. David married Janet in January of 1969 and they had one son, Billy. David gave his life to God and was born again on January 3, 1992. On April 11, 2017 he went Home.
David was preceded in death by his parents, A.L. and Ruby Jenning. He is survived by Janet, his wife of 48 years and their son Billy (Wendy) of Orlando, FL and his beloved granddaughter Alexandreia, also of Orlando. David leaves behind three special brothers: Glenn (Viola), Randall (Linda) and Edward (Lidia), all of Pensacola.
David started his working life at 14 selling donuts. Moving up in the world, he pumped gas, worked as a scab on the railroad, delivered chickens, and was delivering Cokes when Westinghouse started hiring. David graduated with the first group of apprentices. He worked as a machinist until moving into management as a Supervisor of Quality Control. He retired at 52 when the plant closed. He loved the work, stayed until the bitter end and always joked that he locked the doors when he left.
David’s health started to fail in 2010 and it finally worsened this year. He passed away peacefully at home assisted by Covenant Hospice. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bayview Fisher-Pou Funeral Home.
