I first met Cliff when I contacted him about his Fanning family.  At the time I was researching the family in my genealogy research.  He and my father, Keith Fanning were 2nd cousins.  He was very helpful in giving me all of his Fanning family information. This information was great and helped me complete my Fanning Family research and I was able to trace the family back to the 1700's and wrote a book about our ancestors. He lived a great life and enjoyed it to the fullest, which is a blessing. God bless you, his family .  You have many wonderful memories and stories to remember.

Thank you so much, Joanne, for telling me of your father's passing. He was my first Commanding Officer in the Pacific Fleet in 1948 and 1949. I remember how kind and thoughtful he was even though I haven't seen him since 1949. In my 42 plus years in the Navy and Naval Reserve, he stands out as being a unique gentleman. May all of you in his family have peace knowing how great he was.

We feel the very large void left from Cliff's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all you. Dad never stopped talking about Cliff and their summers working on the farm together in Melvern and how proud he was with Cliff's extraordinary accomplishments in the war and as an entrepreneur in Pensacola. All of us can look at some accomplishment that was either initiated or encouraged by Cliff. Flying, buying a condo in FL or just a general enlightenment on lifes experiences. Dad was right,Cliff was a special person.

So sorry to hear of Cliff's passing.  He will be sorely missed by all the members and families of VF-50.  He has been the one to keep us all united all these years.  My condolences to all his family, especially dear Lee.  I know how much you will miss him as will all of us who no longer will get our annual report of VF-50.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cliff Fanning. He was a good friend and business colleague of my husband Jud Davis. Cliff was a kind and generous man and we weren't surprised to learn of his bravery and extensive record as an aviator in the great World War II.  On behalf of all the Davis family, please accept our condolences.

Don and Jan, our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. You spoke so highly of your dad and with such love and respect. I know you will miss him in the days ahead and we will pray that the God will surround all of you with his loving peace. Robin and John.

George and I are sorry to read of your dad's passing, but we've also enjoyed reading about your father in this wonderful obituary--his serving our country in the U.S. Navy and his accomplishments that followed after retiring.  What a kind, generous man he was.  We now know where your  gentle spirit and wit originated Don.  We extend our sympathy and blessings to all of you.
