Annie was born February 14, 1922 in Birmingham, Alabama to Albert and Ochie Daniel Pate. She moved to Pensacola in 1968 and had lived in Atmore since 2010. She was a Navy wife and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Annie enjoyed sewing and traveling and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve. During her retirement years she and her husband traveled extensively in the United States and Europe.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund R. Witkiewicz; parents, Albert and Ochie Pate; daughter, Marguerite Dawson and one brother and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcella Moring and her husband, Wayne of Atmore, AL; grandchildren, Emily Sommer (Monti) of Lakeland, FL and Rachel Robinson (Tim) of Dupont, WA; seven great grandchildren, Jackson Sommer, Ella Sommer, Anna Sommer, Piper Sommer all of Lakeland, FL; Elyse Robinson, Madeline Robinson and Frank Robinson all of Dupont, WA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 03, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Pensacola Humane Society.
