Philip J. Newby

Phil was born in Penn Yan on September 10th, 1949 the son of the late Margaret A. (Mahar) and Robert V. Newby.

Phil is survived by his sons, Kyle (Katherine) of Rochester, Patrick of Penn Yan and Alex of Rome; granddaughter, Molly; the mother of his children, Rhonda Dodson of Waterloo, brother, Terrall "Terry" B. Newby; best friend, JR Campbell of Dundee; and several cousins.

Phil lived a life full of family, friends, and love.

Phil was a loving father, and a lover of music, literature, and nature. After a long carreer in medical technology, he spent his retirement volunteering at the Literacy Volunteers and Milly's Pantry, reading, and enjoying the outdoors and the company of friends and family.

Friends and family may call from 4p to 7pm on Wednesday, February 14th at the Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 15th at 10am at St. Michael's Church. Memorials may be made in Phil's memory to Milly's Pantry, 19 Main St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
