Margaret U. Henderson

Margaret Underwood Henderson, 84, formerly of Penn Yan, resided with her daughter, Amy Buck, in Pine City, NY, died May 1, 2012, at Arnot Hospital, Elmira, NY. Margaret was born October 3, 1927, in Rochester, NY the daughter of Lucille Boughton and Stephen L. Underwood.

Margaret graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1945 and Keuka College in 1949. She was employed at Keuka College until her marriage to Elwin H. Henderson, November of 1950. Margaret was a dedicated wife and homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Milo Center United Methodist Church in Milo Center.

Margaret is survived by her children, Robert (Kay Yarnall), Leon (Lana Yarnall), David (Cheryl Ingram), and Gary, all of Penn Yan, NY; Anne (Edward) Hall, Branchport, NY, Brian (Peggy Smith), Bruce (Lisa Simonsen), Penn Yan, NY, and Amy Buck, Pine City, NY; 28 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brothers, Stephen J. (Barbara) Underwood, Las Vegas, NV, Norman (Jacqueline) Underwood, Newark, NY and Sister Carol U. Robeson, Branchport, NY, sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Gordon) Andersen, Marlene Hunt, Margaret S. Henderson and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Elwin H. Henderson and her parents, Stephen L. and Lucille Underwood.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Friday, May 4,, 2012, at Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5that 10:30am at Milo Center United Methodist Church, Milo Center Road, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Interment will follow the service at City Hill Cemetery, Town of Torrey, NY.
