Rose gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the St. Union Missionary Baptist Church where she was already active in Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, Bible Class, and prayer services. She eventually became one of God's beloved children. She had a lovely voice and sang lead in the church choir and participated in special church programs.
Rose attended Prestwick High School from the first grade through the tenth grade; then, she transferred to Leroy High School where she was among the first black students to integrate the school. She graduated on the honor roll from Leroy High School in May of 1970.
Rose attended Selma University for the summer and fall semesters of 1970. A short time later she moved to Detroit and married her high school sweetheart, Alton Rodgers and they had four children: Deshawn (deceased), Desmond, Tremayne and David. She later married Willie Felton Skeen and they had one child: Anedra (deceased). Rose later adopted a son, Zayden, who is now nine years old. She remained in Detroit during their married life. Years later she moved back to Leroy, Alabama, and raised her children. After a number of years, she left Leroy, Alabama and moved to Talladega, Alabama. Later she worked at New Hope Ministries and then moved to Anniston, Alabama.
Rose favorite color was purple and she loved gospel and soul music. In 1979, Rose rededicated her life to God. She became an activist for Christ. After moving to Pell City, Alabama from Anniston, Alabama, she became a member of Harvest Church and continued serving God through her singing, Bible study groups, Prayer groups, and evangelism and also as a Prophetess. She remained a faithful and strong follower of God until her death. She made her peace with God as she made peace with family members during her last years here on earth.
Rose has gone on to eternal glory on Thursday, May 18, 2023. She is joining her mother and father, four sibling: Deloris Wiley, James Chaney, Carrie Lacey and Rebecca Davis, and two dearly beloved children: Deshawn Rogers and Anedra Skeen.
