She was born in Mobile, Alabama, on October 17, 1945. She graduated from Wilcox County High School in Camden, Alabama, in 1964. She loved Camden and acknowledged it as her childhood hometown. After high school, she moved to Selma, Alabama, where she met, on a blind date, and later married, on October 16, 1965, her husband of 56 years, Jerry. They started their life together and their family in Demopolis, Alabama, where they were active members of the Jaycees and Jaycettes. They relocated briefly to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, before making Pell City, Alabama, their permanent residence in 1976.
She worked for many years at Energy Absorption Systems in Pell City. She was a beloved member of First Baptist Church where she was active with the Douglass Sunday School Class. She did outreach and helped with planning for the class for many years. She volunteered for and served on the board of the Christian Love Pantry in Pell City. She prepared and sent memorial acknowledgements for the St. Clair County Gideons-East. She loved reunion planning for family and high school friends. She especially loved planning for the Burns family and for her beloved “Steel Magnolias of ‘64”.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wilson Burns of Pell City, Alabama; Son, Steven Thomas Burns of Moody, Alabama; Daughter, Kimberly Faith Burns of Moody, Alabama; Grandson, Jerry Blake Burns of Trussville, Alabama; Very Special First Cousin, Faye Charlton Johnston (Eddie) of Mobile, Alabama; Sister, Marlene Beaman Bonner (Dan) of Willis, Texas; Sister-in-Law, Faye Burns Dewey (Ralph) of Wetumpka, Alabama; Sister-in-Law, Dean Burns Wiggins (Lou) of Griffin, Georgia; Sister-in-Law, Jean Burns Hansford of Knoxville, Alabama. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, at First Baptist Church of Pell City from 2:00pm-4:00pm with a memorial service starting at 4:00pm. A private graveside service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Ralph, Alabama.
Honorary pall bearers are St. Clair County-East Gideons and Auxiliary, The Christian Love Pantry of Pell City, and The Douglass Sunday School Class.
