She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Patricia Grogan and her daughter, Jessica Graham Goodwin.
Ila spent her life in the service of others. At work as a behavioral health specialist, she cared for special needs children and helped to identify education methods suited to their particular needs. At home, she cared for her four children; Joel, Jessica, Josh, and Jayme. Ila believed that learning was a lifelong commitment. In the Fall of 2016, she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Jacksonville State University with an emphasis in special education and behavioral training techniques. She was pursuing a master’s degree in academic counselor education. Ila’s home and heart were always open to a friend in need. She raised her children to believe that friends are family and love is our deepest reality. She wanted a big family ever since she was a little girl. She admittedly wouldn’t share her baby dolls with her sister, Amy. Ila loved true crime stories and mystery games. Brothers Jay and Ben benefited from her inquisitive nature each Christmas when she would always find the hiding spots for everyone's presents. Ila’s true spirit is light, warm, curious, and joyful. She was a creator and knew love deeply. Ila’s greatest joy in this life was time spent with her grandchildren; Grayson, Hazel, Harper, and Gavin. With them, she was finally ready to share some toys. As we send Ila home to her Father, parents, and daughter, think of her fondly and know that she is at peace.
