Funeral service for Elaine G. Goodgame, age 97, of Pell City will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in the chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service at Valley Hill Cemetery in Cropwell.
Mrs. Goodgame is survived by her sons, James Dennis Goodgame (Vivian) and Carl Goodgame (Catherine); sisters-in-law, Jeanette Beavers and Connie Goodgame; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Goodgame; father, Cecil Gray Sr., mother, Addie Scott Gray; brother, Cecil Gray Jr., and her sister, Mary Litty Fleming.
Elaine Goodgame was a devoted wife, mother, Christian and church member. She was the pianist, organist, and soloist for Cropwell Baptist Church for over fifty years. Elaine often played for weddings, funerals, nursing homes and senior centers. She filled her home with music and singing daily. Elaine graduated from Pell City High school at age sixteen. She enrolled at the University of Alabama. She spent one night in the dorm and the homesick girl of sixteen returned home to begin work. She later married J. D. Goodgame and they had two sons. Her husband and brother, Cecil “Bubba“ Gray, opened Gray & Goodgame Garage. Elaine help keep the books and mail statements for the successful business for thirty years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Cropwell Baptist Church in Mrs. Goodgame's name.
