The Celebration of Life Service for Tracy will be Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the main worship center at Hunter Street Baptist Church, 2600 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the service at 2 p.m. Face masks will be required.
Tracy graduated from Oak Grove High School and the University of Southern Mississippi where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Tracy was a registered nurse and worked at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg before becoming a travel nurse throughout the United States. During a stop in Birmingham, Alabama, she met her husband, Todd Waldrip.
After retiring from nursing following the birth of her daughter, Anna Kate Waldrip, Tracy founded a children’s clothing business called Fish Kisses, worked as a dedicated volunteer at Anna Kate’s school, and was a member of the Junior League of Birmingham. In recent years, Tracy became a registered travel agent specializing in Disney and other vacations for families.
For over 25 years, Tracy served as a volunteer nurse, staff member and area parent for the Abbie Roger’s Civitan Camp for special needs children and adults in Mississippi. She loved all things big including living life to the fullest, helping others, volunteering, arts and crafts, traveling, the beach, friends, and family.
Tracy was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover, Alabama. She was a Christian and knew Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She is survived by her husband, Todd Waldrip; daughter, Anna Kate Waldrip; mother, Janice Mattern; sibling, Will Mattern (Alicia); and nieces, Ally and Mary Grayson Mattern.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials or Donations be made in Tracy Waldrip’s name to the Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp, 50 Fieldstone, Hattiesburg, MS 39402.
