Neysa grew up in Horton, Alabama and resided in Hoover for the past 60 years. She married Jon Royster Fort on June 25, 1960. They were some of the earliest homeowners in Hoover and attended Green Valley Baptist Church. They were also members of Green Valley (now Hoover) Country Club for 20 years.
Neysa spent many years working alongside her husband as owners of Aldridge Nursery in Homewood, until their retirement in 2003. She was involved in the Hoover Community through the years and on the Hoover Parks and Recreation Board during the late 1980’s. She loved reading and spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her.
Neysa is preceded in death by her parents, Delaney and Effie Nixon; brother, William Melvin Nixon; sister, Marlyn Nixon Jenkins; and beloved husband, Jon Royster Fort.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Kim), David (Kathy), and Andrew (Beth); 10 grandchildren, Michael (Anna Catherine), Sara, Chris (Maddie), Daniel (Mallory), Mary Kathryn (Ian), Ashley (McNeill), Caroline (Wheeler), Jason, Thomas, and Sam; four great-grandchildren, John Nixon, Emma, Harrison, and Georgia; sisters-in-law, Sandra Clayton and Wynell Nixon; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 2-3 p.m., followed by the graveside service at 3 p.m. at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124.
